Hi guys! I hope you've all had a lovely week. I'm beyond excited to expand on the amazing experiences that happened this first week of my journey!

This week's topic: Enjoying the little things

7/1: Enjoying the little things have always been imperative to me in terms of growing. Things such as a nice cold glass of water, or being bundled in a blanket while it's freezing outside always bring me joy. On this particular Saturday, I was working with a lovely coworker who's always an ambitious ball of sunshine. She informed me that I had made her day by taking her shift this Friday. She's a fabulous person so I was happy to do her the favor. BUT she took it even further and had offered to take one of my shifts for the following day so I could enjoy the day with my best friend. This may have been a tiny achievement for both of us, but we had relieved stress off of eachother. Henceforth making EACHOTHERS day :)

7/2: THIS DAY!! This day is an absolutely amazing one because it is the birthday of my best friend, Grace. Grace has been my best friend since kindergarten and never fails to make me happy. For her 17th, we spent the whole day together. I gave her a gift I had hand made her and she absolutely loved it. Then, I tried to treat her to things at the outlets and food. I love Grace so very much and I'm so incredibly grateful I gave her joy like she gives me. Henceforth, making Grace's day :)

7/3: On monday, I had worked 5 hours in the morning making ice for the day at Ritas. I was pretty beat by the time the person came to take the morning shift, but I tried to preserver. Sometimes I struggle with having a job in costumer service because I never know how to talk to people. As I was helping the lovely coworker who came in the morning with treats, a lady who we had served had came back and criticized my ice making. She claimed that the cherry tasted like straight water and asked me to try some. I tried some of it in the back and was instantly hit with the cherry flavor, but I pretended I didn't. My coworker had also tasted the ice and recognized the cherry pang as soon as she ate it. But, the woman continued to criticize the ice until I gave her a free LARGE treat again. I could've argued with her or turned her away, but I decided to abide so that she would feel satisfied. In costumer service, its important to comply with the costumers desires, but technically I didn't have to give her a new, free, ice. The woman thanked me profusely for the new ice and went on her way. She was extremely happy with the free ice, henceforth making her day! :)

7/4:

The fourth of July was a special day for me as I got to hang out with Grace again. To prepare for the eventual party( just a bunch of my dad's friends invading the house), I aided my mom with cleaning. She was grateful for my vacuuming, technically making her day. BUT Grace also made my day! I get nervous when there are a lot of people Im unfamiliar with at my house and seeing that I was uncomfortable, Grace invited me to see fireworks with her. I was so grateful that she removed me from an uncomfortable social situation and we had an amazing night! Therefore, Grace made MY day :)

7/5:

This was yet another ice day. It takes forever to make ice, especially if they are full bucket singles. So often in the morning, I'll start doing the stuff necessary for the openers while waiting for the ice. On this day, my coworker was running a bit late and my manager had told me. I explained to her that everything was already set up and to tell my coworker that it was all going to be okay. Both my coworker and manager were relieved that I just took the small amount of time to set the topping bar and others up. Little actions can have big positive impacts, henceforth making others' days.

7/6:

On Thursday, I participated in my favorite summer activity volunteering at the perkiomen valley watershed conservatory. I love to help the amazing cordinators and educate kids on the importance of the organisms around us. The kids are always so curious and kind,so I love working with them. We'll usually go wading in the creak to look for critters in the morning. So, while wading, this group of girls decided to start splashing themselves and swim in the creek. All of a sudden, they all looked at me and said "Miss Izzy, can we splash you and get you soaked?". With the smiles on their faces I couldn't refuse honestly. So I complied, and was soaked in about .25 seconds. After the day was over, I asked them what their favorite part of camp was and they answered "Splashing you". I'm glad that being a human sponge made these girls day; proving that it doesn't need to be a big gesture to make others happy.

This was SUCH a successful week. I'm so grateful to all the kind people who've made my day, and hopefully here's to many more smiles. Thank you all,

Izzy
